Letter to our fans

Hello everyone,

As always, we would like to thank you all for visiting our website.

nightreveler started a labor of love for us, but with every party we covered, with every web traffic milestone we hit the operation was becoming more and more time consuming and expensive. After considerable review of the situation, we have decided to shut down nightreveler and cease all associated activities, as of May 2, 2009. While it is possible that we will revive NR at some point in the future, there are no plans to do so now.

For us, nightneveler was a test of sorts. We wanted to figure out if we could attract a large-enough audience by building a website dedicated to covering just the live music which we enjoy. That worked out quite well, but there were inevitable problems. We made and learned from mistakes, got burned on partnerships, but recovered, and kept improving and pushing towards our goals. We got to a point where a lot of issues have been resolved, an infrastructure established, and the project began to pick up steam. That said, we have to consider our available resources and ensure that they are being utilized in a way which maximizes our returns. We have a background in business, and as such, we look at these decisions as objectively as possible. It takes a lot of time and effort to generate a steady stream of high-quality media from events and provide other services. For a while, nightreveler was our priority, but several other opportunities have opened up to us and they seem more lucrative. We've had a lot of fun working on this project and supporting the scene which it belongs to, but it is now time for us to move on.

Over the course of this project, we've met many wonderful people, and of course we have tons to thank (in alphabetical order):

And all of the DJs, club, and event staff at the countless nights which we've had the pleasure to attend.

We are also grateful to the thousands of users who visited us. A special thanks goes out to all of you who've sent us comments and tips - your letters were all extremely valuable and always appreciated.

Thanks everybody! Without your support we would not have been able to get as far as we did.

Since this is likely to be our last update, we wanted to take a moment to showcase the events which we think highlight our best work over the life of this project. Our favorites are posted at the top of this page.

If you would like to get in touch with us, you may continue to do so via Full archives are still online.
